WordPress Theme Development in 2019 under #WPSpartans300 Mission. Absolutely Free training step by step. Let’s learn Modern Coding Standards.
This is Task 69 and 12th class of WP Theming Phase and we’re getting started with Core Concepts of WordPress Themes and Templates from scratch. Through out this training, we’ll explore WP Codex step by step. We’ll create a custom theme from ground up.
In this task, we started our journey to be Top WordPress Developers in 2019. My aim is to help, guide and motivate young freelancers so that they could start earning via job market places such as Fiverr and Upwork.
We have covered HTML, CSS, JS, jQuery and PHP Basics. By the end of this training, all Spartans will be in a position to upload their themes not only to WordPress Repo but also to Theme-forest, Creative Market, Mojo Themes and Template Monster etc site.
We’ll follow PHP , HTML, CSS and WordPress standards laid down by the official and core team of WP.
In this 12th class of absolutely free WordPress Training, we talked about a lot many things. First of all, I answered FAQs from Spartans.
1) First question was about %1$s and %2$s. Shafiq Sani wanted to asked how these placeholders are substituted by variables. For that, we talked about printf and sprintf PHP functions (mainly used for formatting). I referred a couple links (PHP Manual and W3Schools.com to read more about this. Also, we explored widgets.php that is within wp-includes WordPress Core Folder.
These placeholders are substituted with $id and $classname (defined in WP Core).
2) Secondly, we talked about i18n and l10n. Youngsters wanted to know about both of these terms.
i) i18n is basically Internationalization. In this long word, there are 20 letters of the alphabet. So, to keep it short, it’s a standard to write it as i+18+n = 20 Letters. Likewise, l10n is used for Localization i.e. l+10+n = 12 as there are total 12 letters of the alphabet in Localization word.
Finally, we talked about Custom Post Types, Taxnomies and Terms. Created one custom post type. Talked about $labels and $args. We also consulted WordPress Codex to ream more about CPTs.
In next task, we’ll explore Taxnomoies and Custom Meta Boxes in detail.
