Here comes Gutenberg WordPress Editor with a ‘World of Blocks’ to revolutionize WordPress Foundation and possibilities as a great CMS. Let’s explore it together and try to find business opportunities as WordPress Developers.
This is Task 3 in the WordPress Developers 300 Spartans Mission 2019. In this tutorial, we talked about Gutenburg, its history with special reference to Johannes Gutenberg, the German Founder of Printing Press (well known for inventing revolutionary tools to empower book publishing. He is also well known for publishing Bible as a book.) WordPress Community and Team of Dedicated Developers all over the world are working on this project under Git. It is planned to be released on November 19, 2018 or it may delay a bit. However, Gutenberg is the future of writing, editing and publishing content way more smarter that we see it today with the help of Classic Editor.
Gutenberg Content Blocks will open new vistas for WP Users and Developers. Meta Boxes and Custom Fields are at ease with this builder. It will create unlimited earning opportunities for WordPress Customizers. And for us, the WordPress Spartans 300 Mission 2019, it brings hope and great opportunity. Let’s get ready and grow with the release of WordPress 5.0
We also downloaded Gutenberg Plugin (It will be a part of new WP Release). We installed it on Local Server. Furthermore, we created a page with Classic Editor. Then we created a page with New Gutenberg Page Editor. It’s wonderful to have so many blocks at our disposal. Even the novice clients and users will be in a better position to design their pages, posts and even custom post types with the help of dynamic blocks (as the name Gutenberg suggests). Blocks will remain fluid. Yes, Drag and Drop is also beauty of this editor.
We experimented with a number of blocks. We explored different settings of blocks. We removed blocks, discussed navigation etc.
We also downloaded and installed popular page builder Elementor. We tried to see how it integrated well with new content builder. Divi from Elegant Themes is also ready to go hand in hand with revolutionary WP Page Builder (Although it’s going to be more than a page builder). Built on top of react.js and WordPress REST API, this is going to bring wonderful opportunities for all of us. It will improve with the passage of time. For now, this is just the beginning. WOW. It’s really cool. Give it a try, and get ready to code Premium Blocks and sell via Themeforest and Codecanyon or other such platforms.
