Upwork recently announced a New Connects Pricing Policy starting from May 2019. It will affect all freelancers and agencies. In a blog post, they say it’s for good.

Saad Ali Bhatti, a young passionate freelancer and a university student, shares his insight. As you requested to know about this new connects policy, so here it goes.

Connects, at Upwork, are virtual tokens that we need to submit proposals or bid. Each proposal submitted needs a pricing mechanism. Upwork is revising their policy from May 2, 2019 onward.

These upcoming changes will affect all i.e. new freelancers, top freelancers and agencies. They are doing this to help out professional freelancers and to help clients find the best global talent. Less proposals will create better chances. In short, they are prioritizing. Saad Ali is of the view that this new policy will be very productive in the long run. Let see.

Initially, we had basic plan with 60 connects available. Now, we’ll have to purchase connects. They have categorized projects as well. The detail of which can be found in the video. It may be hard for new freelancers to cope from Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. However, change is always productive if we’re ready. So, I don’t think it’s time to say good bye to Upwork. Let’s compete in the hard times with all professional pride and dignity.
